Location: Hybrid | Onsite 2 days per month (Texas-based preferred)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Salary Range: $143,000–$177,000 + 20% Annual Performance Bonus

Overview

Medix is hiring on behalf of a leading national health system for a Director of Revenue Cycle Operations to provide strategic oversight and leadership for enterprise-wide hospital billing and accounts receivable operations. This individual will manage large, multi-facility revenue cycle teams and ensure efficient, compliant, and high-performing financial operations across all inpatient, outpatient, and specialty service lines.

This is an exciting opportunity for a current Hospital Billing (HB) A/R Manager or Director ready to take the next step into a system-level leadership role. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in Epic, collections strategy, vendor management, and hospital-based accounts receivable within a large health system environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance and direction for system-wide financial services; build and sustain a high-performing financial services culture.
  • Lead large teams in areas of Billing, Collections, Denials, Underpaid, Correspondence, Cash Management, Vendor Management, and Customer Service .
  • Oversee revenue operations supporting up to 17 Acute Care Facilities, 163 Outpatient Facilities, and 300+ physicians , encompassing diverse service lines such as emergency, trauma, transplant, imaging, rehab, and behavioral health.
  • Develop and execute both short- and long-term operational plans aligned with departmental and organizational goals.
  • Maintain oversight of $2.6B+ in accounts receivable , $4.3B in annual cash collections , and 2B annual billed claims while driving net revenue improvement.
  • Analyze operational performance metrics and provide strategic recommendations through data-driven reporting and trending analyses.
  • Oversee 35–55 staff members, ensuring performance excellence, employee development, and effective change management.
  • Establish and monitor performance measures, goals, and sustainable outcomes for all revenue cycle functions.
  • Manage financial performance by ensuring that revenue, expenses, and FTEs meet or exceed budgetary expectations.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with departments such as Revenue Integrity, CDI, Case Management, Quality, and Physician Leadership .
  • Ensure compliance with all payer, coding, and regulatory requirements, and uphold ethical and compliant billing practices.
  • Serve as an internal consultant on reimbursement, revenue integrity, and operational best practices across the health system.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5–10 years of hospital system and A/R vendor-related experience.
  • 5+ years of management or supervisory experience in hospital billing operations.
  • Strong Epic system experience required.
  • Proven expertise in Hospital Billing (HB) A/R management , collections, and vendor oversight.
  • Demonstrated success managing revenue cycle operations for a large, complex hospital system .
