Overview

Perform documentation in the EHR, gathering information for the patients visit, and partnering with the physician to deliver the pinnacle of efficient patient care.

Essential/Core Job-specific Duties And Responsibilities

• Document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician accurately and thoroughly. Put the assessment/note/Discharge Summary in front of the provider for proof reading as soon as finalized so that it can be completed immediately. (We cannot bill for draft notes/assessments/Discharge Summaries until finalized by the provider making it necessary to complete the same day.)
• Perform clerical tasks as needed by the physician including faxing, phone calls, and referral letters.
• Collect, organize, and catalog data for physician quality reporting system and other quality initiatives to increase patient compliance and improve outcomes.
• Comply with all legal and ethical requirements for medical documentation.
• Alert physician when medical record is incomplete or medical documentation contains mistakes or inconsistencies.
• Review “To-Do” lists and “Notes left in Draft” daily to determine incomplete status and notify Provider for direction for completion. Once complete, return items that were in Draft or Incomplete staff to be reviewed and finalized by the Provider.
• Experienced staff in Scribe positions will assist in the training of new hires as requested by Supervisor.
• If needed, will alter schedule to provide weekend or holiday coverage if directed by the Supervisor.
• Follows the Scribe Guide used for training Medical Scribes.
• Other responsibilities as deemed by the Supervisor.
